Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga Teacher Training Weekend

With Annie Damsky at  Villager Yoga, October 5th-7th, 2018

Learn how to hold space for this special time in your students’ lives while guiding them to comfort and stability during pregnancy and postpartum. You will gain knowledge towards sequencing prenatal yoga classes for relaxation, strength and optimal physical alignment that will assist in a healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery. You will develop knowledge and confidence of how the body and mind are shifting during pregnancy and postpartum to create a practice that meets the needs of each student through:
Asana | Pranayama | Sounding | Resources | Community | Compassion

Course curriculum:

Understanding the world of pregnancy: anatomical, physiological, emotional and social
Asana for each stage of pregnancy - props, modifications, adjustments & contraindications
Practices (wearing fake baby bellies)
Sequencing and holding space through class structure, language, and themes
Pranayama (breathing) and sounding techniques
Basic partner work and massage techniques
Postpartum yoga
Business management and marketing
Prenatal class observation
Practice teaching

This training is available to all yoga teachers who have completed or are pursuing a min. 200 hr YTT, as well as health and wellness professionals in the birthing community. The training also counts as a "Specialty Workshop" in the HereNowYoga 300 Hour Teacher Training Program.

Investment: $350 | $275 early bird by August 1
Includes: workbook, class observation, practice teaching, video material and Yoga Alliance CEUs (18 contact hours, 10 non-contact hours)

  • Understanding the world of pregnancy, internal and external
  • The benefits of prenatal yoga and teaching Prenatal Yoga versus yoga to pregnant woman
  • Practice

Saturday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

  • Teaching perspective / language / Class structure
  • Observe/practice Annie’s prenatal yoga class
  • Common areas of discomfort, contraindications and presentations
  • Asana & adjustments
  • Partner work (poses and massage)

Sunday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

  • Practice teaching
  • Postpartum body/mind
  • Mom needs
  • Mommy & me classes
  • Business (waivers, your role), Outreach, marketing and the business of babies
